Frequently asked questions
Can companies outside Brazil use dbdireto?
Yes. Our services are delivered online, through API or file exchange, and commercial terms such as contract, invoicing and payment are agreed directly with each client. Tell us about your use case and our team will get back to you.
What is a CNPJ?
The CNPJ (Cadastro Nacional da Pessoa Jurídica) is the 14-digit number that identifies every legal entity in Brazil's national register, kept by Receita Federal, the federal tax authority. It is the key you use to look up a company's official data.
Where does the data come from?
From official Brazilian public sources: Receita Federal, the state tax authorities (SEFAZ) through Sintegra, the Simples Nacional system and more than 200 other government portals and registries. dbdireto automates the lookups and returns the results as structured data.
Do you store the data returned by the API?
No. The response to each lookup is not stored after it is returned to your application; we keep only the access log for auditing.
How can I test the API?
Request a test account and you get an access key, documentation with request and response examples, and a free sandbox environment for your integration. Production lookups are billed per query.
